At the Institute for Theoretical Physics TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant (post-doc, all genders) limited to expected 6 years for 40 hours/week. Expected start: September 2026.
Tasks:
- Theoretical research in high energy physics, broadly defined, including quantum field theory, quantum gravity, high energy nuclear physics, lattice field theory
- Writing and publishing of scientific articles
- Participation in research and project activities
- Participation in scientific events
- Participation in teaching activities and exams, as well as supervision of Bachelor, Master and PhD students
- Participation in organizational and administrative tasks
Your profile:
- PhD in physics
- Research record and excellent knowledge of quantum field theory
- Ability to independently conceive and carry out ground-breaking theory research using creative thinking
- Interest in supervision and work with students
- Willingness to collaborate with members of the High Energy Theory group
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 4,932.90/month gross, 14 times/year for 40 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
