IUPAP C10 2023 Early Career Scientist Prize for the Structure and Dynamics of Condensed Matter Physics
The IUPAP C10 Early Career Scientist Prize (previously, Young Scientist Prize) recognizes exceptional achievement in the study of the structure and dynamics of condensed matter by scientists at a relatively junior
stage of their career. One prize per year will be awarded on the basis of nominations received. The recipient must be no more than eight years post Ph.D. (excluding career interruptions) by the deadline of the
competition. She/He is expected to have displayed significant achievement and exceptional promise for future achievement in an area of experimental, computational or theoretical condensed matter physics, including in quantum materials, energy, information science, the bio? or nano?realms, or uncovering emergent or far?from?equilibrium phenomena.
Nomination procedure:
Nominees for the Early Career Scientist Prizes must be nominated by a senior member of the research community. Self?nominations are not accepted. A nomination for the prizes must contain the
following.
- A cover letter of not more than 1000 words by the nominator, evaluating the overall significance of nominee’s contributions in terms of grand challenges in the related field.
- A citation for the prize (not more than 30 words).
- A short CV of the nominee (not more than 3 pages).
- A list of selected publications (up to 5 papers) with citation statistics and full authors’ lists.
Each publication needs a short description on its importance (up to 300 words).
- Two additional letters of endorsement of the nomination, at least one of which is not from a former supervisor of the nominee at either the graduate or postdoctoral level.
The nomination must be prepared in English and combined into a single consolidated PDF file, which is to be sent as an email attachment to the IUPAP?C10 Commission Secretary at shobhana@jncasr.ac.in, with a copy to the Commission Chair at twnoh@snu.ac.kr.
The deadline for submission of nominations is July 15th, 2022.
The Prize:
The Prize will consist of 1,000 Euro, a Medal, and a Certificate.
Prize Selection:
The prize selection committee will consist of C10 Commission members. The winner will be announced on the IUPAP website.
Prize Presentation:
The winner’s Prize Lecture and Award Ceremony will be held at the 2023 March Meeting of the American Physical Society (APS), March 6?10, in cooperation with the Division of Material Physics (DMP) and the Division of Condensed Matter Physics (DCMP).
