Announcement of a Faculty Opening at the Johannes Kepler University Linz - Professor in Theoretical Physics
The Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) Linz, Austria invites applications for a tenured position of a Full-Professor in Theoretical Physics (succession of Prof. E. Krotscheck) with a focus on Modeling and Simulation of Nanostructures. We are looking for an outstanding scientist in the field of theoretical condensed matter physics who is investigating electronic, magnetic and optical properties of nanostructures, taking into account many particle quantum effects. The research should focus on the correlation of microscopic structures with their functional properties. Further, it should involve the development of strategies for the design of materials with certain properties, such as metallic and semiconducting hetero- and nanostructures in the bulk and on surfaces. Experiences in multiscaling approaches that combine theories of different complexity are desired. Examples of such theories are ab-initio theory for the electronic structure, Maxwell-theory for the propagation of electromagnetic fields and density matrix theory for the light-matter and electron-phonon interaction.
Application Deadline: July 11, 2012
